After educating her older daughter in the public school system, our founder and director Sudha Seetharaman, sought a more vibrant and stimulating environment for her second child. She soon realized, finding a school that could satisfy her needs was challenging, so she started her own.

In 2007, with just two children in hand, Sudha started Trilok School with a friend in Brooklyn.

Within a couple of years the school outgrew its space and moved from a basement apartment to a Brownstone on Adelphi Street. In 2011 Trilok School moved into its current building on Waverly Avenue.

Born and raised in India, Sudha was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for the world. Trilok School was shaped by adopting his ideas on the environment, peace, love, and non-violence at its core.

Being an Indian classical dancer by training, the arts are very dear to her. Being a daughter of a professor, academic rigor is equally important. Her vision was to find a balance between the arts and sciences, blending and informing each other in the learning process.
